Hair cloning
Well we are already successfully cloning animals so why not hair. Imagine being able to take a couple of hairs from the donor area in the back and multiply them to have more than enough to fill the top of a bald head. This is the future of hair loss, as another option next to Propecia and Rogaine and the other treatments currently available.
There are multiple companies in the world that are racing to be the first company to be able to market this treatment. There have been numerous research studies on mice and initial results look favorable and numerous companies are in the process of performing human trials. Two forerunners of this research are Aderans Research based in California and Intercytex based in London.
What these companies plan to do on human trials is to take a couple of hairs from the donor area in the back of your head and break them down into different cells. They then reproduce the cells in a lab and then inject them back into the scalp. By using only a couple of hairs they are able to reproduce enough hairs to give you a full head of hair once again. This gives real hope to those that want a hair transplant but don't have enough donor hair.
A lot of work still needs to be done before this treatment will be available, but this website will keep you posted on this and other future treatments.
